The Indian Railways has introduced several features for its passengers, giving them a hassle-free journey. The Indian Railways is trying to make the website more user-friendly. In the latest attempt, it has informed passengers that they can check their seat availability and fare through some easy steps.

1. Go to the official website of Indian Railways – irctc.co.in.
2. Fill details on ‘Book Your Ticket’ page.
3. Click on the ‘Find Trains’ option.
4. You will see a list of trains.
5. Click on ‘Check Availability & fare’ button to check the availability of trains.
Meanwhile, Railways may soon start imposing an airport-like fee on passengers who use its redeveloped stations which will result in a hike in fares. Railway Board Chairman V K Yadav said that the fee will vary across the newly developed stations depending on their footfalls. He said the ministry will soon notify the amount to be charged. The Railways has floated a request for proposal, seeking bids to redevelop Amritsar, Nagpur, Gwalior and Sabarmati railway stations at an estimated cost of Rs 1,296 crore.
“The user development fee, along the lines of a levy charged by airport operators, will be used to help fund the upgradation of stations. The charges will be nominal,” Yadav said.
