Apart from Samsung, Huawei is also competing to launch its first foldable smartphone, and the exciting news is that Huawei’s Ken Hu has confirmed that the company’s First Foldable Phone is also First 5G capable phone. Emphasizing the uses of 5G, Hu informed that a 5G capable device will have faster mobile broadband, lower latency and the Internet of Things. 2019 trend in smartphones seems to be the commercial foldable phones, as well as the 5G enabled-devices, since the carriers around the world are working on their 5G networks already. 5G support devices need bigger batteries as well as different antenna arrays.
Huawei has already teased its first foldable handset at IFA 2018 a few weeks ago, hinting that the foldable smartphone has potential to replace computers.
While Samsung has already confirmed that the foldable phone will launch before the end of the year, the company has also launched a 5G modem that will reach users by end 2018.
